Why the Bright Futures Health programme?

What is the AAP Bright Futures programme?

The AAP Bright Futures programme stands out as a comprehensive health and developmental surveillance programme for children from birth to 21 years of age. It is uniquely designed to promote the healthy development of children and adolescents by providing a framework for preventive care and early detection of health problems.

The Bright Futures programme is based on the latest child and adolescent development research. It is informed by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) policy statement “Bright Futures: Guidelines for Health Supervision of Infants, Children, and Adolescents.”

The Bright Futures programme is divided into four age groups:

Infants: Birth to 1 year

Toddlers: 1 to 3 years

Preschoolers: 3 to 5 years

School-aged children and adolescents: 5 to 18 years

Benefits of the Bright Futures programme

The Bright Futures programme has several benefits for children and families, including:

Promotion of healthy development:

The Bright Futures programme provides parents and caregivers with information and support to help their children reach their full potential. The consultations include screening for developmental delay and behavioural problems.

Improved communication between parents and health care providers:

The Bright Futures programme encourages parents and providers to collaborate to make decisions about a child’s health and well-being.

Improved outcomes for children:

A comprehensive health and developmental screening programme can help improve children’s outcomes by ensuring that they receive the care and support they need to thrive.

Early detection of health problems

The Bright Futures programme can help identify them early when they are easier to treat. The programme can help improve a child’s overall health and well-being.

The gap in service provision in the UK

Our Co-founders, Dr Martin Gray and Dr Margarita Burmester, have experience working in the healthcare systems in Canada and the United States of America. They recognised the gap in service provision and the need to bring the Bright Futures programme to babies and children in the UK.

Martin and Margarita, our passionate paediatrician directors, are committed to prioritising the well-being and prevention of illnesses in children. Their mission is to revolutionise child healthcare by shifting from reactive treatment to proactive screening and surveillance. They firmly believe that children’s screening and care should be delivered in a compassionate and child-friendly environment, empowering you to take control of your child’s health.
Many parents from North America, Northern Europe, and other regions with advanced healthcare systems expect their families to receive regular, routine healthcare assessments. We aim to provide this level of care to families in London and the UK.

The Bright Futures Health platform is designed to connect you with independent paediatricians who deliver the highest quality of service to our children. We want to ensure that every visit to the paediatrician is an unforgettable experience for parents, families, and children.

“Once you experience an appointment with a Bright Futures paediatrician, you become part of the Bright Futures family. Our doctors are committed to staying connected with families, building a bond that will guarantee exceptional care.”
