The Chelsea Psychology Clinic

Child and adolescent psychology and psychiatry

A shared approach to children’s care

A multidisciplinary child and adolescent service offering timely assessment, joined-up care and support beyond diagnosis, with psychology and psychiatry working together on one care plan.

Who the clinic supports

The Chelsea Psychology Clinic provides psychological therapy, child and adolescent psychiatry, neurodevelopmental assessments, parenting support and family therapy. Additional pathways include educational psychology, neuropsychology and dietetic support, subject to clinical suitability and specialist availability.

Children are matched with practitioners according to their age, presenting needs and the type of assessment or treatment required.

Why families choose the clinic

A multidisciplinary team

Psychology and psychiatry working together on one care plan.

Carefully matched

Children are matched by age, presenting needs and assessment type.

Planned outpatient care

Specialist assessment and treatment, in person and online.

Clear communication

Feedback and written reports, with communication back to referrers.

Services

The clinic confirms fees on enquiry, and some pathways need a tailored quotation.

Child psychology

An initial assessment across a parent session and a child session, informing a personalised therapy plan. Ongoing sessions are 50 minutes.

Child and adolescent psychiatry

A comprehensive psychiatric assessment informing therapy, medication or combined care, with psychology and psychiatry working together.

ADHD assessment

A two-hour in-person assessment with a consultant psychiatrist, including clinical history and questionnaires, a one-hour feedback session and a written report.

ADHD transfer and medication review

For children diagnosed elsewhere who are transferring medication care. The existing report is reviewed before an appointment is agreed.

Autism assessment

Two specialists carry out a two-hour observational assessment and a two-hour developmental history, followed by a one-hour feedback appointment and a written report.

Combined ADHD and autism assessment

For overlapping presentations: observation, developmental and psychiatric history, multidisciplinary discussion, feedback and a written report.

Parenting support

Therapeutic support for parents. An initial consultation explores your concerns and identifies the approach for ongoing support.

Family therapy

Explores relationships and patterns of interaction. Attendance is tailored to your family’s needs.

Educational psychology

Assessment of a child’s learning needs and educational profile, for ages 5 to 25.

Neuropsychology and dietetics

Specialist pathways within the child service. Suitability and practitioner are confirmed before any quotation.

What to expect

  1. Enquiry

Families contact the clinic directly or are referred by another practitioner. Enquiries are reviewed by the clinic’s triage team.

  2. Initial discussion and matching

The clinic gathers information about your child’s difficulties, history and practical needs to identify the right pathway and practitioner.

  3. Assessment preparation

You receive appointment information and relevant questionnaires. Some assessments need input from parents, schools and previous clinicians.

  4. Specialist assessment

The format depends on the pathway. In-person appointments are generally recommended for children under 13.

  5. Feedback and recommendations

Findings are discussed and next steps agreed. Neurodevelopmental assessments include feedback and a written report.

  6. Treatment and review

Where appropriate: psychological therapy, psychiatric follow-up, parenting support or family therapy.

Planned care only

The clinic provides planned outpatient care. It does not provide crisis or emergency care or inpatient treatment. If your child is in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent help that is not an emergency, contact NHS 111.

Bright Futures Health × The Chelsea Psychology Clinic

Working together

Bright Futures Health and The Chelsea Psychology Clinic share a joined-up approach to children’s care. If a paediatric review raises questions about your child’s development, attention, behaviour or emotional wellbeing, we can talk through whether specialist psychological or psychiatric input might help. You are welcome to contact the clinic directly, or Bright Futures Health can make a referral to the clinic for you. Both options are open to families.

Our other partners

The Chelsea Psychology Clinic is an independent organisation. Its clinicians and services are separate from Bright Futures Health, and each organisation is responsible for the care it provides.
