About Sophie
Sophie has been part of the Bright Futures Health team for three years, working closely alongside Dr Martin Gray and Dr Margarita Burmester as the person who keeps the clinic running smoothly. As a mother of two children aged 6 and 12, she brings something that can't easily be taught — a genuine, first-hand understanding of what it feels like to be a parent worried about their child's health. That insight shapes everything about how she communicates with families.
Sophie is typically the first voice you hear at Bright Futures, whether you're calling to book an appointment, chasing a referral letter, or simply trying to work out which appointment type is right for your child. Her aim is always the same: to make the experience as calm, clear, and stress-free as possible, so families can focus on their child rather than the administration.
Before joining Bright Futures Health, Sophie spent 18 years at Middlesex University in London, where she managed overseas academic partnerships between the university and institutions around the world. That role required the same blend of careful coordination, cross-cultural communication, and attention to detail that underpins good clinic management — and she has carried those skills directly into her work here.
Sophie holds an MA in Social Anthropology from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and an MSc in Social Science Research Methods from Middlesex University. She has a longstanding interest in research and hopes to pursue a PhD in due course — though she is, pragmatically, waiting until her own children are a little older.
Alongside her clinic role, Sophie is a qualified Holistic Therapist with over 20 years of experience. She specialises in reflexology (including pregnancy reflexology), Indian head massage, and facial treatments — qualifications she gained through evening classes at Barnet College and has continued to develop since. It is perhaps no surprise that someone who has chosen two careers centred on care and wellbeing brings such a calming, considered presence to the Bright Futures team.
